ZKYMessenger is a free revival of the instant messenger of the 2000s, the one from Windows XP. Windows you can drag around, status, the nudge that shakes the other screen, emoticons you type on the keyboard, display pictures, group conversations, files, voice and video. Nothing to install: it all runs in the browser, on a computer as well as on a phone.

Nothing we say to each other is stored

There is no message table in our database: a message passes through the server and is gone. Files and calls go straight from one browser to the other. We ask for no name, no age, no phone number, and there is neither advertising nor tracking.

Is it free?

Yes, entirely, and without advertising. You need a sign-in name, an e-mail address to confirm the account, and a password.

Do I need to install anything?

No. ZKYMessenger opens in the browser. On a phone, you add it to your home screen and it opens like a real app, with no app store involved.

Is this the real MSN Messenger?

No. It is an independent work inspired by MSN Messenger, with no link to or affiliation with Microsoft. The original service closed in 2013; this one is written from scratch.

How do my friends find me?

By your sign-in name, or by the matching @zkymsngr.com address. Your real e-mail address is shown to nobody, not even to your contacts.
